NEW event series! Starting off our Skillshare with Sewing 101, taught by local drag artist and costume extraordinaire Miss Josephine!

The workshop will hit 3 key objectives: mending a seam, mending a hole / tear, and sewing on a button. If we have time, we'll dive into hemming too! We'll have sewing supplies and sample fabrics, but you're welcome to bring your own supplies or items needing mending if desired.

PS we will also be providing a light lunch (vegetarian & gluten free options available) and some cute door prizes!

The Skillshare Series is all about sharing knowledge, information, and skills in order to empower us all to help ourselves and each other navigate an increasingly expensive and difficult world. We hope you'll take these skills to your roommates, friends, family, and even strangers! We think of it as a form of mutual aid, and hope you will too

Skillshare Series continues! This month we're a little less hands on and a little more academic - Queer professor Dr Kaeli Gretter of USM's LIS department will teach us all how to process the information overload coming at us. But don't worry! It will be still be interactive & fun, and you'll walk away feeling a little better about the way you consume and process information.

Learning objectives:
1. How to analyze information (what is the argument / opinion, what are the supporting facts, who are the experts, etc)
2. How to verify sources
3. How to check for bias
BONUS: How to spot AI

This month’s Skill to be Shared is basic car maintenance! Professional masc Lesbians, Sav McMillon and Kayla Hopkins, will be teaching us:

-how to change a tire
-how to patch a tire
-how to change your oil
-how to refill your car’s fluids
-how to jump a car

February’s Skillshare comes in time for the warming of the seasons Local LGBTQIA+ stylist & drag queen Nicole Saadalla of The Abbey Salon is coming to teach us how to do a basic trim and style of your hair

Every attendee will receive a FREE starter kit with shears, comb, and clips. Please note this workshop is geared toward hair with some length and will not go over razor techniques.

April Skillshare will see Judo master & longtime TSC community member Robby Desmond will be teaching us basic self defense moves using the principles of Judo at the Black Belt School of Judo, located at 5882 US-11 in Purvis. This session is open to folks of all abilities - Robby will modify any instruction, equipment, or technique necessary to ensure you are able to fully participate.

Wear comfortable athletic clothing that you don't mind getting pulled on/tugged and shoes or sandals that you can easily remove. Ages 13+ only. Attendees must be willing to sign a waiver.

This month’s Skillshare will bring you Yoga Basics! Join us in learning from yogi Bri Manifesti - she’ll be teaching some basics that you can later do on your own at home to keep your limbs stretchy and your body healthy.

Free to attend! First 15 participants receive a FREE yoga mat! Water & other basics provided.

Ever wanted to learn life saving skills? Come join us to learn the basics of CPR and first aid from two experienced EMTs - longtime TSC volunteer Jamie Corley and visiting bike extraordinaire Lachlan Kirby. No certifications will be provided from this session, but everyone will receive a FREE First Aid Kit with all the essentials and dinner. Thursday June 11 at 6pm at The Spectrum Center 210 S 25th Avenue.
