2026 Steering committee application
Our Pride Steering Committee works alongside our Board to plan and execute all Pride events in June and October. This work includes fundraising, creating budgets, booking talent / guest speakers, booking and managing venues, planning decor, recruiting and coordinating volunteers, creating and distributing advertising materials, managing social media, and more. The Steering Committee typically splits into four teams: Fundraising, Advertising, Volunteer, and Venues & Entertainment. You can serve on a team or specific to an event of your choice! While we are very flexible and understanding of everyone’s specific life circumstances and needed accommodations, we do ask that you be able to dedicate a minimum of 10 hours per month and can attend the majority of meetings, which occur twice a month. Volunteers are critical to the success of Pride and all TSC events year round! Everyone at The Spectrum Center is a volunteer, so the more the merrier. Join us to help set up, clean up, post flyers, sell merch, host entertainers, welcome event goers, and more.

We are thankful to all of the businesses and community members who are helping use celebrate 10 years of PRIDE! Their sponsorship dollars help us produce a week of fun, educational, and inclusive events for the LGBTQ+ community in the Pine Belt. Not only doe their dollars help make Pride a reality, any additional funds are used to cover operational costs for The Spectrum Center, including utilities, building repairs, and program supplies.

Pine Belt Pride
Pine Belt Pride began in 2015 as Southern Fried Pride and has since evolved into one of the state’s largest and most recognized Pride celebrations.
Each year brings the usual favorites, like Pride in the Park and Queeroake, as well as new and exciting programs geared toward serving the community and advocating for inclusion & equity for all.
Pride was born as a protest led by trans women of color, and we strive to keep the spirit of those women and the many who came before and after alive here in our South Mississippi town. Join us to experience a welcoming and supportive community of queer folks as we envision a world where every day can be Pride!
