The Spectrum Center Library
about the library
-
The goals of The Spectrum Center’s Library are to preserve and promote the history of Queer literature through its unique collection, to support the intellectual and cultural life of the community through its resources and programs, and to be a place of quiet reflection, intellectual stimulation, and community connection. This aligns with The Spectrum Center’s overall mission by empowering community members with knowledge, being inclusive of all backgrounds, and providing resources.
-
Being the first of its kind in the South and one of very few in the country, The Spectrum Center’s Library will serve as a model for future development of Queer libraries, enrich the lives of the Queer community in the Pine Belt region of Mississippi, and to make Queer history and literature more accessible and visible.
