what is the mutual aid fund?

Mutual aid is a collaborative effort where members of a community come together to offer or exchange resources such as food, clothing, or monetary help to provide support and offset the economic disadvantages created by oppressive systems. Mutual aid is rooted in teamwork, liberation, and social justice principles.

who is eligible to receive funding?

Recipients must be 18 years of age or older and self identify as members of the LGBTQIA+ community. They must also reside in one of nine Pine Belt counties: Covington, Forrest, Greene, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Lamar, Marion, Perry, and Wayne.

what expenses are eligible?

The Mutual Aid Fund currently offers assistance for the following expenses:

  • Utilities (electric, water, gas, and WiFi under qualifying circumstances)

  • Mortgage or rent payments, security deposits, hotel stays in the event of emergencies

  • Prescribed medications, including medical or assistive devices
